Ahmet Gülşen was born in 1973 in Kaman, Kırşehir. He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Selçuk University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 1995. After completing his military service in 1996, Gülşen embarked on his career in the private sector as a Field Engineer.

 

In 1998, Gülşen began working as a Field Engineer at the Van-Özalp-Saray Construction Site in the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways. In the same year, he was appointed to the 7th Regional Directorate of Highways in Samsun, where he held various positions, including Control Engineer for the Boyabat-Saraydüzü Road, Control Chief for the Sinop-Boyabat Road, Field Engineer in the Road Construction Branch, and Control Chief for the Kavak-Merzifon Road. In 2010, he became the Chief Engineer for the Road Construction Section at the 7th Regional Directorate of Highways in Samsun.

 

Starting in 2013, Ahmet Gülşen served as the Deputy Regional Director of the 12th Regional Directorate in Erzurum. In 2016, he became the Regional Director of the 8th Regional Directorate in Elâzığ, followed by his appointment as the Head of the Operations Department at the KGM headquarters in Ankara in 2018. In 2021, he was appointed as the Regional Director of the 13th Regional Directorate in Antalya.

 

On August 11, 2023, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 2023/382 published in the Official Gazette No. 32276, Ahmet Gülşen was appointed as the General Director of the General Directorate of Highways.

 

Gülşen has played significant roles in facilitating numerous significant highway investments in our country, including Turkey's visionary projects such as:

- Istanbul-Izmir Motorway

- North Marmara Motorway

- Ankara-Niğde Motorway

- 1915 Çanakkale Bridge

- Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway


Married and the father of four children, Gülşen is also fluent in English.​
