SAMSUN CITY HOSPITAL AND CONNECTION ROADS WERE PUT INTO SERVICE
The invesments, including Samsun City Hospital and connection roads providing access to the hospital too, were opened traffic attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. The General Directotare of Highways Ahmet Gülşen also attended the ceremony.
In his speech at the ceremony, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted Samsun's position as a logistics, agricultural and industrial hub, as well as its location at “the crossroads of all roads." Erdoğan stated that Samsun's startegic position in transportation and its status as a “healty city" have been further strengthened through infrastructure investments.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted they held a collective opening ceremony, in the presence of President Erdoğan, for Samsun City Hospital, its connection roads and other completed investments.
Stating that the 2.3 kilometer connection roads providing access to the emergency entrance of hospital was completed, Uraloğlu noted that they would complete the remaining sections and integrate the hospital with the Training and Research Hospital and the public campus.
Uraloğlu stated that the tram line, for which the foundation had been laid, would provide comfortable and uninterrupted access to the city hospital through an integrated road and rail transport network, adding that they would continue expanding Samsun's transportation network through eight highway projects, including the Samsun Western Ring Road, Havza-Vezirköprü Road and Çarşamba-Ayvacık Road.
Direct Access to the City Hospital
The Samsun City Hospital Connection Road Project which carried out by the General Directorate of highways, are providing direct access between Samsun Rind Road and City Hospital which was previously unavailable.
The connection road, designed as a 5.3-kilometer divided road with three lanes in each direction and a bituminous hot mix pavement, includes two bridges with a total length of 233 meters.
As part of the first phase of the project, a 2.3-kilometer section and a 29-meter-long bridge providing access to the hospital's emergency entrance were completed and put into service. Work on the remaining sections of the road is ongoing.
Faster, Safer and Uninterrupted Access
The transportation infrastructure which has a key role in providing faster, safer, uninterrupted access to medical services, will contribute to the efficient utilization of the service capacity of Samsun City Hospital.
The connection road will facilitate easier access to the hospital for citizens while helping reduce the impact of hospital-related traffic on the existing urban transportation network. It will also enable ambulances and other emergency medical vehicles to reach the hospital more quickly and without interruption.
The project is also contributing to the socio-economic development of the region by strengthening the connection of Samsun City Hospital, a major healthcare investment for the Black Sea Region, with the main transportation routes.
Annually Saving of TRY 600 Million
As a result of the improvements in transportation provided by the Samsun City Hospital Connection Road, annual savings of TRY 600 million are expected, including TRY 570 million in time savings and TRY 30 million in fuel savings. The project will also help reduce annual carbon emissions by 1,500 tons.
With the opening of Samsun City Hospital and its connection road, another major investment has been brought into service for citizens, strengthening access to healthcare services in Samsun, easing urban transportation and contributing to the region's transportation infrastructure.
