MINISTER URALOĞLU INSPECTED THE SAMSUN WESTERN RING ROAD

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu visited the construction site of the Samsun Western Ring Road, where construction works are ongoing as part of his Samsun program, and received a briefing on the latest status of the project.

During the visit which was also attented by General Director of Highways Ahmet Gülşen, Minister Uraloğlu received information about the ongoing works and construction process, and observed the latest stage of the project on site.

The Samsun Western Ring Road, implemented to ease urban and transit traffic in Samsun, one of the Black Sea region's major trade and logistics hubs, will make a significant contribution to the city's transportation infrastructure.

The project is being constructed as a 16.3-kilometer-long, six-lane divided road, with three lanes in each direction, featuring a bituminous hot mix asphalt pavement. The project includes two twin-tube tunnels with a total length of 1,757 meters, three viaducts, and six grade-separated interchanges.

Upon completion of the project, the distance currently covered in approximately 40 minutes along the existing route, which is about 29.6 kilometers long, is expected to be shortened by 13.3 kilometers to 16.3 kilometers, reducing the travel time to approximately 10 minutes via the new route.

When the Samsun Western Ring Road is opened to traffic, transit traffic is expected to be diverted away from the city center, thereby reducing traffic congestion within the city and improving traffic safety.

The Project which will ease transportation along Samsun's western corridor; will contribute to smoother, safer and more comfortable traffic flow while also strengthening connections between the Black Sea Coastal Road, ports, organized industrial zones and regional transportation corridors.

During Minister Uraloğlu's visit to the construction site, discussions were held on ensuring that the works on the Samsun Western Ring Road continue in line with the planned schedule.
