TOWARD THE END OF THE KONYA RING ROAD AND ALACABEL TUNNEL PROJECTS

Director General of Highways Ahmet Gülşen inspected the ongoing works on the Konya Ring Road and the Alacabel Tunnel projects. Gülşen evaluated the ongoing works during the visits on Friday, August 21, and received a briefing from officials on the latest progress of the projects.
Gülşen's first visit was to the Konya Ring Road. The second section of the ring road, which has been designed with a total length of 46.1 kilometers, including fifteen interchanges, one viaduct and seven bridges.
Of the second section, 30 kilometers had previously been opened to traffic, and a total of 42.7 kilometers has now been completed. With the opening of the ring road to traffic, urban and intercity traffic will become safer and more comfortable, while significant time savings will be achieved in transportation.
Works on The Alacabel Tunnel are Progressing Rapidly
Gülşen's second visit was to the Alacabel Tunnel and its connection roads project in Konya. Of the project, which has a total length of 19.2 kilometers, 7,420 meters consist of twin-tube tunnels. Also, there are one bridge, interchanges and intersections on the route.
Asphalt paving works are continuing in the tunnel, where excavation and concrete lining works have been completed. The existing route will be shortened by 7 kilometer with the Alacabel while Tunnel, travel time will be reduced by 20 minutes.
With the completion of the Konya Ring Road and the Alacabel Tunnel and its connection roads projects, the aim is to strengtken Konya's transport infrastructure and make transportation in the ragion faster, safer and more comfortable.
