President Erdoğan who provided information about the newely opened Başkent Havacılık Bridge, made the following remarks: “The Başkent Havacılık Bridge, has 140 meter-long, was built over the high-speed rail line. The 10,000 tons slab was installed using a method applied for the first time in Türkiye. The Connection Road has a total lenght of 12.5 kilometers, consisting of a 6.5 kilometer divided road and a 6-kilometer single-carriageway. We will ensure the transportation of committee attending to The NATO Summit via 3-kilometer connection road on the divided road section. Thus, we are establishing a strong transportation network connecting our Ankara Airport to Kızılay through a 17-kilometer route and to Ümitköy through a 7-kilometer route."

Speaking at the ceremony The minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu, “we completed 12.5-kilometer connection road in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence, General diractorate of Highway, Directorate General of Logistics and State Airports Authority. With the technologically advanced Başkent Havacılık Bridge, a 140-meter engineering masterpiece, and the Ankara Boulevard Underpass, we have provided the capital with a modern airport located just 17 kilometers from the city center of Kızılay."

Direct Transportation to Strategic Hubs

Of the project's total length of 12.5 kilometers, 6.5 kilometers were constructed as a divided road, while the remaining 6 kilometers were built to single-carriageway standards.

The 3-kilometer connection road located on the divided road section of the Project provides direct transportation access from Ankara Airport to Ayyıldız campus and via Ankara Boulevard, to the Presidential Palace within the scope of the 36th NATO Sumit.

Advanced Engineering Bridge and Underpss

As part of the project, the 140-meter-long Başkent Havacılık Bridge, designed as a single-pylon extradosed cable-stayed structure, and the 40-meter-long Ankara Boulevard Underpass were also constructed. The bridge, constructed using the push-pull method, has become one of the notable examples of advanced engineering applications.

Thanks to the project, which provides direct, fast and secure transportation between Ankara Airport and Ankara's administration, defense and security centers, travel time between the Presidential Palace and the airport has been reduced to 7 minutes. The project, which will provide significant convenience during international meetings and high-level visits, was completed and opened to traffic in just 230 days.
