A Total Investment of 354 Billion Turkish Lira in Antalya's Transportation and Communication Infrastructure

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that, over the past 24 years, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has invested a total of 354 billion Turkish lira in Antalya's transportation and communication infrastructure.

He noted that during this period, the length of divided roads increased from 197 kilometers to 777 kilometers, while the length of bituminous hot mix (BHM) surfaced roads rose from 123 kilometers to 1,140 kilometers.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu emphasized that Antalya's transportation network has been strengthened through projects implemented across the city. He stated that urban and intercity transportation has been made safer and more comfortable through the Western and Northern Ring Roads, interchanges, and tunnel projects. He also noted that with the Demirkapı Tunnel, which connects Antalya to Konya, the Taurus Mountains can now be traversed with tunnel comfort. The Minister added that access to tourism destinations has been further facilitated through the Phaselis Tunnel and other investments.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that with the completion of the ongoing Antalya–Alanya Motorway project, the traffic congestion that increases especially during the summer months will be significantly reduced. He added that through the modern transportation systems they have built, they are connecting all parts of the city, thereby making life easier for both citizens and domestic and international visitors to Antalya.

A Project Bringing Relief to Döşemealtı

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that the newly opened Altınkale Interchange is a critical investment that will meet the increasing traffic demand of the Döşemealtı district. He stated that the region has shown significant development in recent years, driven by the Organized Industrial Zone and modern housing projects.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the intersection on the Antalya–Burdur State Road, which previously caused long queues and stop-and-go traffic during peak hours, has been transformed into a modern transportation solution.

He noted that within the scope of the project, a 71-meter-long and 34-meter-wide bridge was constructed, and earth-retaining embankment works were carried out over 300 meters in both directions. Emphasizing that the removal of the signalization system has ensured uninterrupted traffic flow, he said, “With this project, we have provided safer and faster transportation for both urban and transit traffic."

Significant Savings in Time and Fuel

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that, with the commissioning of the Altınkale Interchange, travel time has been reduced to as little as 30 seconds. He announced that the project will deliver annual savings of 274 million Turkish lira in total, 219 million lira from time savings and 55 million lira from fuel savings.

He also highlighted the project's environmental benefits, noting that smoother traffic flow will reduce carbon emissions by 2,651 tons annually.

Uninterrupted Traffic Flow Ensured

Ahmet Gülşen stated that Antalya is one of the country's most important centers in terms of tourism and production, emphasizing the importance of delivering safe and uninterrupted solutions to meet increasing traffic demand.

He noted that the Altınkale Interchange, implemented at the entrance of the Döşemealtı district on the Antalya–Burdur State Road, is a significant investment regulating traffic flow in the region. He added that the junction, which previously operated as an at-grade intersection, has been converted into a grade-separated interchange through the construction of a bridge and approach structures, thereby substantially improving transportation standards.

Gülşen emphasized that, thanks to the bridge structure and its connections built within the scope of the project, the signalization system has been removed, ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow and significantly reducing congestion in the area.
