“Afyonkarahisar is one of the Proud Landmarks of our Nation"

Beginning his speech with the words, “Afyonkarahisar is a city that stands as one of the proud landmarks of our nation; a sacred trust carrying the spiritual legacy of the Great Victory on its noble shoulders, and a place whose lands have been nourished with the blood of martyrs," Minister Uraloğlu stated that, guided by this sense of historical responsibility and a vision for the future, they continue their efforts day and night to strengthen the city's transportation infrastructure. Stating that Afyonkarahisar serves as the backbone of Türkiye's logistics power and a strategic key to economic development, Uraloğlu said: “Today, we are pleased to bring you two important announcements. We are opening the Çay–Bolvadin–Emirdağ State Road to traffic and laying the foundation of the Çay–Karaadilli–Dinar Provincial Road. With great pride, we are commissioning the Çay–Bolvadin–Emirdağ State Road, upgrading the 53-kilometer corridor between these three districts to a bituminous hot-mix paved divided road standard."

Travel Time Reduced by 18 Minutes

Uraloğlu stated that, within the scope of the project, 7 bridges, 10 underpasses, and 69 culverts were constructed. He also noted that 4,000 saplings compatible with the region's natural vegetation were planted, particularly in interchange areas, and that dry landscaping was implemented across a 110,000-square-meter area in order to protect water resources.

Stating that, thanks to the road put into service, travel time has been reduced by 18 minutes to 35 minutes, Uraloğlu said: “As a result, we achieve an annual average saving of 1.3 billion lira, including 781 million lira from time savings and 513 million lira from fuel savings. With smoother traffic flow, we also reduce carbon emissions by 24,000 tons, thereby contributing to our goals of sustainable and climate-friendly transportation," he stated.

An Important Transport Corridor Supporting Access to Agricultural Regions

Stating that the Çay–Karaadilli–Dinar Provincial Road on the Afyon–Denizli route is a trade corridor connecting Central Anatolia to the Mediterranean and the Aegean regions, Uraloğlu continued as follows:

“The Çay–Karaadilli section of this road, via Dinar, is an important transport corridor that supports access to the agricultural regions located along the southern and western axes of our country. We are now launching construction works and laying the foundation for upgrading the 45-kilometer Çay–Karaadilli section of the existing 90-kilometer route which currently serves traffic as a single lane road with a surface-treated pavement into a bituminous hot-mix paved divided road. We will upgrade the existing surface-treated single lane road, which is 9–10 meters wide, to a bituminous hot-mix paved divided road standard with a 25-meter platform width."

Stating that they will also implement infrastructure improvements that will enhance the geometry of the existing road and improve traffic safety, Uraloğlu said: “Once our works are completed, we will achieve an annual saving of 526 million lira, including 379 million lira from time savings and 147 million lira from fuel savings, and we will also reduce carbon emissions by 7,000 tons," he stated.

“It Will Both Strengthen Our Economy and Help Protect Our Nature"

Stating that these two projects are complementary to one another, Uraloğlu emphasized that once the works are completed, a modern and alternative corridor will be established, enabling traffic coming from Ankara and the eastern regions to reach the Lakes District, Denizli, and tourism centers in the Southern Aegean directly, without entering city centers. Stating that the projects would also significantly reduce heavy traffic experienced in city centers, particularly during public holidays and summer vacations, Uraloğlu continued as follows: “With these two important projects, the total annual savings we will generate for Afyon exceed 1.8 billion lira, and we will also reduce carbon emissions by approximately 31,000 tons. In this way, we will both strengthen our economy and help protect our nature."

“Approximately 109 Billion Lira Invested in Afyonkarahisar Over the Past 24 Years"

Stating that the length of divided roads in Afyonkarahisar has increased from 54 kilometers to 598 kilometers, and the length of bituminous hot-mix paved roads has risen from 41 kilometers to 726 kilometers, Uraloğlu said:

“We have connected Afyon to Konya, Eskişehir, Denizli, Isparta, Kütahya, and Uşak via divided road. We have implemented major highway projects such as the Afyon–Uşak Road Karahisar Tunnel and Karahisar Interchange, the Afyon–Şuhut Road, the Afyon–Sandıklı Road, the Emirdağ–Çifteler Road, the Keçiborlu–Dinar Road, the Dinar–Çivril Road, the Sandıklı–Hocalar Yavaşlar Dam Relocation Road, the Afyon–Emirdağ Junction, Dörtyol Interchange, and the Erkmen Interchange. Alongside the Çay–Karaadilli–Dinar Provincial Road, whose foundation we are laying today, investment and construction works are also ongoing on seven major highway projects, including the Emirdağ–Davulga–Yunak Road, the resurfacing of the Afyonkarahisar–Uşak Road with bituminous hot-mix pavement, the completion of the Afyonkarahisar–Şuhut Road, and the transformation of the Bus Terminal and OSB interchanges on the Afyon Ring Road into next-generation smart interchanges," he said.

“An Alternative Divided Road Route Connecting Central Anatolia to the Aegean and Western Mediterranean will be Established"

Speaking at the ceremony, Director General of Highways Ahmet Gülşen stated that Afyonkarahisar stands out as one of the key hubs of interregional transportation, noting that they are taking the first step of a new investment that will strengthen the region's transportation infrastructure.

Gülşen stated that they aim to establish a safer and more comfortable transportation infrastructure through works to upgrade the 45.8-kilometer Çay–Karaadilli section, which constitutes the first phase of the Çay–Karaadilli–Dinar Provincial Road, into a divided road. He added that, with the project, “an alternative divided road route connecting Central Anatolia to the Aegean and Western Mediterranean will be provided, intra-regional transportation will be made more orderly, and agricultural and commercial activities will be supported more effectively."

Stating that the Çay–Bolvadin–Emirdağ State Road, whose construction project have been completed, has been put into service, Gülşen noted that the bridges and underpasses built within the scope of the project have significantly increased the road's capacity and traffic safety, while also contributing to tourism, trade, and transit transportation in the region.
