COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKIYE AND UZBEKISTAN IS STRENGTHENING IN THE FIELD OF HIGHWAYS

Cooperation between Türkiye and Uzbekistan in the field of highways is strengthening day by day. Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between our General Directorate of Highways and the Uzbekistan Roads Committee, Director General of Highways Ahmet Gülşen, accompanied by his delegation, paid an official visit to Uzbekistan.

Director General Gülşen stated, 'Türkiye–Uzbekistan relations, rooted in our long-standing ties and shared history, have today reached a strategic level thanks to our culture, bonds of friendship, and common values.' He emphasized that this strong partnership, developing across various fields between the two countries, continues to strengthen day by day based on mutual trust and a shared vision for the future.

In his remarks on the signed Memorandum of Understanding, Director General Gülşen stated that the document goes beyond being merely a technical cooperation instrument, providing a comprehensive framework that brings together shared development goals, transportation policies, and a common determination to collaborate. In this respect, he noted that bring together the ties between the two countries.

Director General of Highways Gülşen stated that the cooperation established with the Uzbekistan Roads Committee will enable joint initiatives in numerous areas, including road construction, maintenance and repair, planning, quality management, traffic safety, intelligent transportation systems, and digitalization. In this context, he noted that the development of concrete projects, the sharing of technical expertise, training programs, and on-site implementations will further advance the cooperation to a higher level.

Director General Gülşen stated that sharing Türkiye's extensive expertise in the field of highways with the brotherly country of Uzbekistan is of great importance. He also stated that Uzbekistan's regional vision and field experience offer valuable insights and gains for the General Directorate of Highways. He further stated that, in the upcoming period, the areas of cooperation will be elaborated in detail by experts from both countries and implemented step by step.

Emphasizing that strong roads build strong bonds, Director General Gülşen underlined that the steps to be taken jointly will enhance regional connectivity and make significant contributions to logistics capacity. Expressing his satisfaction with the transformation of cooperation in the field of transportation into tangible outcomes, Gülşen extended his gratitude to the representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Highways Committee for their hospitality and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the cooperation for the benefit of both countries.​
