TOKAT-NIKSAR ROAD TO BE COMPLETED BY 2026
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu visited and inspected the Tokat-Niksar Road construction site as part of his Tokat program. Following the visit, which also included the General Director of Highways Ahmet Gülşen, Minister Uraloğlu made statements to the press.
"The most important section of the project is between Tokat and Niksar"
Stating that the Tokat-Niksar Road covers a 49-kilometer route, Uraloğlu said, "This is not just the Tokat-Niksar road; It is a north-south corridor that starts from the Black Sea, from Ünye, and extends through Akkuş, Niksar, Tokat, Yıldızeli and Sivas to the East, Southeast and the Mediterranean. The most important part of this project is between Tokat and Niksar, where the geographical conditions are challenging and the existing road can only be maintained. We have completed 35 kilometers of this 49-kilometer section and opened it to the use of our citizens. Most of the remaining 14-kilometer section is located between Dönekse and Niksar. There are large engineering structures here, a 1,440-meter twin-tube tunnel and three bridges with a length of 292 meters. In addition, bridges with lengths of 101 meters and 53 meters, as well as at-grade intersections and bridge intersections are included in the project."
"Travel time will be reduced from 40 minutes to 25 minutes"
Regarding the project's progress, Uraloğlu stated that technical issues have been resolved and land acquisition obstacles have been largely overcome. He indicated that the travel time would decrease from 40 minutes to 25 minutes upon completion of the road. Additionally, Uraloğlu highlighted that the project will result in an annual saving of approximately 550 million TL and prevent 9,200 tons of emissions, contributing to its environmental benefits.
The Minister expressed the goal of completing the Tokat-Niksar Road by the end of 2026 or earlier and emphasized that the work is progressing rapidly with continued support under cost-saving measures.
