The Cankurtaran Tunnel, inaugurated on March 1, 2018, is a twin-tube tunnel with a total length of 5,228 meters, located on the Hopa-Borçka Road..

ki This tunnel plays a significant role in facilitating transportation in the Cankurtaran region, which experiences heavy snowfall, especially during the winter season, and serves as a crucial link connecting Artvin with the provinces of Erzurum, Ardahan, and Kars, providing access to the Black Sea region. The construction and opening of the Cankurtaran Tunnel aimed to ensure safe and comfortable travel in this area.

With the implementation of the Cankurtaran Tunnel, the route, serving as a vital bridge between the Black Sea region and the Eastern Anatolia region, and consequently, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Middle Eastern countries, has been shortened by approximately 12 kilometers.
