Project Detail

Nicosia Northern Ring Road

Nicosia Northern Ring Road, which regulates the city's internal and transit traffic in the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Nicosia, is designed with a length of 20 km, 2x2 lanes, and a divided road standard with hot mix asphalt pavement. The 11 km section of the road has been completed and opened to service on July 20, 2021.

Kuzey Çevre Yolu, built to alleviate the traffic congestion in the city center of Nicosia, has successfully diverted transit traffic away from the city. This, in turn, has eased transportation between Nicosia and its surrounding areas, improving overall traffic conditions.

With an average daily traffic volume reaching 40,000, the Nicosia-Famagusta Road, which is the busiest route in Northern Cyprus, has eliminated stop-and-go delays thanks to the Bypass Road. The bypass has reduced the time spent passing through Nicosia from 21 minutes to 9 minutes and reduced overall travel time by 12 minutes.

As part of the project, a 1,500-meter-long, 7-meter-wide bicycle and pedestrian path has been constructed, running parallel to the road by a distance of 30 meters.
