Salarha Tunnel
The Salarha Tunnel, which connects Rize city center to the Salarha Valley, was opened on September 4, 2021. This tunnel provides a connection between Rize's South Ring Road and the Küçükçayır Provincial Road, creating the shortest transportation link between the northern and southern parts of the city. This project fulfilled a 70-year dream for Rize.
The double-tubed Salarha Tunnel provides service to vehicle traffic with a 2x2 lane configuration and features bituminous hot mix asphalt. It has a length of 2,958 meters, making it a crucial transportation infrastructure in the region.
The implementation of the Salarha Tunnel and its connecting roads has significantly improved transportation in the region. The existing 13.4-kilometer road, which used to take 20 minutes to traverse, has now been shortened to 9.1 kilometers, reducing travel time to just 5 minutes. This improvement enhances accessibility and connectivity in the area.
