Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway
The Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway, constructed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, consists of a total length of 96 kilometers, including 56 kilometers of motorway and 40 kilometers of connecting roads. It was fully opened to traffic on February 22, 2020.
This 2x3-lane motorway, an extension of the Izmir-Aydin, Izmir-Urla-Çeşme, and Izmir Ring Road, runs parallel to the Izmir-Çanakkale State Highway, passing west of the Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone. As part of the motorway project, the construction of a steel archaeological bridge has set a unique example in the world, as it contributes to the preservation of the road leading to the Neonteikhos Ancient City and the surrounding historical artifacts.
The Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Motorway provides high-standard road connections to Izmir, Aliağa, and Çandarlı Port, relieving the heavy vehicle traffic currently using city roads for north-south transportation and alleviating the urban traffic within Izmir, Menemen, and Aliağa.
